Jugend is the Swedish word for Art Nouveau. During my second year at Hdk we had an collaboration with Röhsska design museum to develop a project based on their Art Nouveau collection. I especially enjoyed looking at the pattern designs by William Morris and other similar wallpaper designers. I love the nature inspired aspects of Art Nouveau, especially how they randomly mixed everything together. Fishes, crabs flowers and fruits, it all goes together.

In my Jugend/Art Nouveau pattern design i used watercolours to paint a variety of fruits, plants and little animals. I illustrated  them freely after my own head and then preceded to work digitally, going back and forth between analogue and digital work which is one of my preferred methods of working with repeated pattern designs.
